WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE PARISH

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

I am not worthy to follow in the steps of my Lord, but, like him, I want no home, no possessions. Like him, I will belong to the road, sharing the suffering of my people, eating with those who will give me shelter, and telling all of the love of God.
Sadhu Sundar Singh

SUNDAY ON MONDAY

A warm welcome back to those attending ‘Sunday on Monday’ which re-starts for the new academic year on Monday 17th September. And thanks to our loyal band of helpers for volunteering to work with our youngest people.

MEETING ROOM CAFÉ

The Meeting Room Café will open next on Saturday 6th October.

Come and enjoy our monthly veggie and vegan community café at affordable prices!
We are completely volunteer run and strive to provide an open, relaxing community space for Cathays to come together and unite whilst enjoying a drink, cake or something warmer. There is live music each month and various craft and jewellery stalls will make an appearance.

The Meeting Room is a fully inclusive community venture, held within the Church of St Andrew and St Teilo, Cardiff, usually on the first Saturday of each month. The next opening will be on Saturday 6th October, 11.30am - 2.30pm.

SERVICES ON SUNDAY 7TH OCTOBER AND HARVEST SUPPER

Sunday October 7th is the Cardiff Half Marathon so there will be no morning services in the parish owing to the various road closures, but there will be a Eucharist for the whole parish at 4pm in St. Michael’s, followed by HARVEST SUPPER! - our annual event which celebrates the bountiful generosity of our loving God through company, food and drink. All are welcome. Our Harvest Appeal this year is for ‘Life Straws’ - a portable water filter that effectively removes bacteria and parasites to provide easy access to safe, clean water. Collecting tins will be available in both churches. It’s also lovely to have children bring something to offer to the altar at Harvest and so if they could bring an item or two of tinned or packaged food, that would be wonderful.

THE CHOIR

The choir meets on Wednesdays in St.Teilo's at 7.45 pm, and on Sundays at 10.30 am before the morning service. New members are welcome in all voice parts. It is a young(ish) and very friendly choir directed by Alex Thacker, a recent graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Conductor of the Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society The Choir is currently on its summer break and will return in September.

THE PARISH OF CATHAYS

St. Teilo's and St. Michael's are the two churches which together comprise the Parish of Cathays. Further information about the Parish and the two churches can be found on the Parish website.
